Wind Turbines

Advantages

GC China Turbine Corp. 2 Blade Advantages

Soft Design, High Reliability

  • One of the most common engineering issues with wind turbines stems from the “eigen frequency” which is defined as the vibration frequency of a - quantum system - in other words, the frequency at which a system will vibrate.
  • GC China's deign utilizes a proprietary "Teeter Hub" which dampens passive yaw thus solving the dynamic problems in the structure and is a key to operational longevity.

An Assembled 2-Bladed Wind Turbine

2-Bladed System

  • Achieves lower weight and lower cost
  • Load and fatigue analysis is more complex and thorough than 3-bladed
  • Zero difference in conversion of wind energy to electricity compared to 3-bladed systems
  • Greatest potential is aimed at future remote offshore environments.

Easy Lift

  • Rotor and nacelle can be assembled on ground then lifted as a unit to the tower.

Low Weight

  • 2-bladed design, obvious saving of one blade
  • Integrated gearbox, no main shaft and main bearing
  • Soft tower is lower weight over traditional 3 blade designs

Low Temperature Capability

Cabinet in nacelle is insulated against low temperature with two independent heating elements in the integrated gearbox for easy start in cold climates.

Uncomplicated Design, Easy Maintenance

  • Compact drive train, stall control, very few components
  • 0.8m wide passage all-round in the nacelle for easy maintenance

2 Blade Advantages

  • Variable blade pitch, which gives the turbine blades the optimum angle of attack. Allowing the angle of attack to be remotely adjusted gives greater control, so the turbine collects the maximum amount of wind energy for the time of day and season.
  • The tall tower base allows access to stronger wind in sites with wind shear. In some wind shear sites, every ten meters up, the wind speed can increase by 20% and the power output by 34%.
  • High efficiency, since the blades always move perpendicularly to the wind, receiving power through the whole rotation.
  • Variable pitch control is simplified and lightened when only 2 blades are used.
